It seems that the Mega Millions game keeps creating more and more millionaires. After someone managed to win a $99 million jackpot recently, another man from McLean, Virginia, managed to win a very large sum of money at the multi state game. State lottery

Brian McCarthy, 25 years old, managed to win the astounding $107 million Mega Millions jackpot after purchasing his lottery tickets in a Giant gocery store in Herndon. The man said the very popular social network, Facebook, helped him win. Lotteries

Brian McCarthy told Virginia State Lottery officials he got to checking his tickets only after reading the numbers on a local radio’s Facebook page. Once he checked his numbers, he called his family who couldn’t even believe he actually won that much money.

“My dad kind of freaked out a little bit and mom started crying,” Brian McCarthy stated. Mega lottery

The young man chose to get the lump sum option so he is entitled to a $68.4 million payment. He used to work as an account manager for Pepsi, but he told his boss he was quitting, but without saying why.

“I didn’t tell anyone but my family for the first three-and-a-half weeks or so,” Brian McCarthy stated. “On the last Friday, when I met my boss and turned in my computer, I told him and he got a kick out of it.”

The man already bought a new car, donated $25,000 to a couple of charities in Herndon (the Herndon Optimist Club and the Herndon-Reston FISH Inc.) and booked a trip to Ireland. He also said he plans on taking it slow with the rest of his gigantic prize.

This jackpot is the third biggest ever won in Virginia. Steve Williams from Shenandoah is still second with the $200 million he won on October 16, 2009, while the first position is held by J.R. and Peggy Triplett from Winchester, who managed to win $239 million on February 20, 2004.
