January 3, 2012

A Millbury girl had the winning $7 million lottery ticket sold recently at Goretti’s Supermarket on Providence Street.

She purchased the winning ticket in the state’s $10 Million Raffle at Goretti’s, where she works as the shop’s controller, according to a news release from the Lottery. US lottery

Ms. Crewe was “absolutely surprised” to learn of her win, according to the release, which said she went to the lotto HQ with her son and girl.

To keep her winning ticket safe over the long holiday weekend, Crewe tucked it inside a thermos which she then placed into a fire resistant bag, the release declared.

She didn’t inform her youngsters about the win until early this A. M. and told Lotto officers, “It has been the longest a couple of days of my life.”

She intends to spend the winnings cleverly, first by helping her mummy try some necessary house maintenance, according to the release.

For lotto prizes of $5,000 or more, winners must pay Twenty-five p.c to the central government and Five p.c to the state.

The lotto sold just over half a million of the tickets. One thousand people won cash awards of $1,000 while 20 folks ended up with $50,000 payoffs and one person won $1 million. Ms. Crewe won the top prize of $7 million.

Goretti acting manager Glen Porter asserted earlier in the week he was happy the winner was a buyer.

The family-run superstore will get a $50,000 commission for selling the winning ticket, said Ms. Bresnahan.

The winner of the raffle’s sole $1 million prize was Ronald Tiemann, 47, of Plymouth. He’s a married dad of 2 and a self employed IT consultant.

He, his other half, and his mother-in-law each purchased a ticket for the $10 Million Raffle and checked the winning numbers together right after they were posted on New Year’s Day, the news release recounted.

The family was excited to learn that one of the 3 tickets was a big winner. Tiemann described it as an “incredible family experience.” He plans to use some of the loot toward his daughters ‘ school funds and also to send his mother-in-law on a vacation to Italy.
