The California State Lottery is pleased to announce that its sales have increased for the second year in a row. The lottery has recorded $3.44 billion in sales for Fiscal Year 2010-2011. By all accounts, that’s a massive 13 percent increase as last fiscal year’s sales totaled $3.04. The lottery gave $40 million more to education than last fiscal year. The lottery gave $1.13 billion in Fiscal Year 2010-2011, while in 2009-2010 in gave $1.09 billion. Lottery numbers
“We’re excited about how far we’ve come in such a short period of time,” Lottery Commission Chairman John Mass said. “We’re proud to be able to provide more than a billion dollars to education for the 11th consecutive year, but we want to do more. With great new games, promotions, and a responsible business plan, the Lottery is poised to take its sales to new highs in 2011-2012.”
Last year, the schools of California received substantial amounts of money partly to massive sale increases to Mega Millions and Scratchers. The Mega Millions game benefited from an astounding advertising campaign, which actually won awards, and two massive jackpots of over $300 million. Also, the lottery’s ability to control how much it awards in prizes has seen the Scratchers sales go through the roof. This was possible only because Assembly Bill 142, authored by Assemblywoman Mary Hayashi, was signed into law in 2010. Lottery checker
“I’m proud to say that the legislation I authored has achieved exactly what we intended it to achieve – more money for schools,” Mary Hayashi stated. “But this is just the beginning. With the Lottery’s sustained growth strategy, this law will continue to pay dividends for years to come.”
Just when Hayashi’s bill became a law, the State Lottery revealed a new business plan which would span over three years and should considerably empower the lottery’s way of conducting business. Well, it looks like the plan worked as the lottery’s sales just keep increasing. Lottery winning numbers
The lottery has been around for more than 25 years, and if things go the same way, it will be with us for a very long time. With more than $23 billion in education funding, the state lottery has been a god sent gift for many students who couldn’t have completed their education otherwise.
