IT’S HALLOWEEN: TRICK OR TREAT?
November 2, 2011

Just picture this, a Bronx mom dressed as Snooki, a sanitation worker in bunny ears and a babysitter wearing a rainbow hat. What do they all have in common? They went trick-or-treating on the 31st of October to and received much more than candies.

This Halloween set the stage for the funniest and happiest party that eight very lucky New Yorkers will never forget. Eight New York Lottery winners were invited to a Halloween extravaganza where they took home a total of $23.5 million in jackpots.

Clayton Wint, a sanitation worker from Brooklyn said when he received a gigantic check for almost $1 million at the Abracadabra Superstore in Chelsea, “It’s not going to change my life, but it’s going to change my lifestyle”. Wint, who is the absolute poker fan, won the $1 million New York Poker scratch-off prize last month, just in time to celebrate his 19th wedding anniversary. “I’m going to take my wife on a trip. I don’t know where yet, maybe Hawaii or a Bahamas cruise,” he said, he also plans to top it all off with a diamond ring. Dressed in a top hat and bunny ears, Wint shared stories with other lucky Lottery players who were also accepting oversized checks from state Lottery hosts Jina Myers and Yolanda Vega.

Bronx stay-at-home mom Gina Ruisi, 43, won the $9.5 million Lotto jackpot October 5th, using the birthdays of her children and her deceased father to pick the winning numbers. Lottery checker

Another winner is Karen Dennis, 68, of Staten Island who won $5 million on a Set For Life scratch off game. Her prize will be cashed as an annuity and her plans immediate plan for this windfall money is to buy a new house.

Jei Pierre, 48, of Valley Stream, is now set for life after winning $1,000 A Week for Life ticket. He has expressed that with this he will be able to take care of her daughters who are “My life”.

Andrea Wurthmann, 53, of North Massapequa, won one million dollars on a Cashward scratch-off game. This working mom took her winnings choosing the lump-sum modality which makes it a net check of $663,300 and plans to remodel her kitchen.

Long Island grandparents Salvatore and Patricia Manzitto from Westhampton decided to share the $3 million Make Me Rich jackpot. Each will receive $75,000 a year (net check totaling $49,522) up until 2030. Although it was Salvatore who bought the winning ticket, it was Patricia who suggested that he should go to the shop and do something to help him pass time since it was raining. This suggestion prompted him to purchase their lucky ticket at Speonk Stationery on Montauk Highway in Speonk.

Amazing treats for all of the winners indeed! Congratulations to all!
