MARRIED AND LUCKY
November 9, 2011

Not many can actually say that they got married and at the same time they got lucky as well, that is if we do not take into account that meeting the man or woman of your dreams is already a blessing. But a couple from Hudson Valley have stretched the meaning of being a lucky couple because this luck includes more than marital bliss – they are lottery winners! Jason Peterson of Saugerties and wife Joy Peterson got married in June and would have never imagined that they would be receiving some extra cash just 5 months after they got married. Now will have a million reasons to go on a second honeymoon, that is if they choose to do so. Lottery checker

Jason was on his way to work on October 7th and he stopped by to get some gas for his truck, and while he was there he went into I & W (Mobil) Food Mart on Route 32 in Kingston. “I went inside and decided to grab a ticket. I asked for one of the newest they had and the clerk handed me this one.” And that was how he ended up with $1,000,000 ! Peterson said he wasn’t prepared for the shock of winning.

“I was shaking like a leaf,” described Jason, the father of three. “My first thought was to call my wife and then I called work to tell them I would be late.” Joy Peterson, 47, who works in sales support for Anaconda Sports, was at work when her husband called. She says that she answered she was obviously very optimist about it but also very cautious. You can´t joke with something like that and if by any chance it was a mistake, well that would´ve been a bummer. So she simply kept asking her husband to double check and to really, really make sure that he really did won. Lottery winning numbers

The couple have chose to split the $1,000,000 prize evenly and each will be receiving a one-time payment of $500,000 (net $330,150). They have expressed that they plan to use the prize to “secure their children’s future” and buy a new home of their own. They have denied that possibility of a second honeymoon but Jason did add, “We might take a quiet family vacation…to Disney!”

Now the Petersons will have a million reasons to smile, to take things just a bit easier, enjoy life with kids and although no second honeymoon is in the horizon, as a family they might be planning to spend some quality time bonding and taking family vacations.
