MILLION DOLLAR ROUTINE
November 14, 2011

We all have routines, actually many routines are simply a part of our lives and we don´t even think twice before we do it. We wake up, brush our teeth, have our little ritual which varies from person to person and then off to work. For some it may imply getting their morning latte at Starbucks, for others it might mean grabbing their cup of Joe and breakfast while they are on the road and still others will seem like in an automatic mode when they board their metro services while munching breakfast on the way. National lottery

For William Ball, a 55 year-old Warren Tire Service Station automotive technician from Glens Falls, NY his routine is quite simple. He always stops at Stewart’s Shop on Quaker Road in Queensbury on his way to work for coffee and his daily tickets. Yes, he has been a loyal and faithful lottery ticket player. He is also a regular at Stewart´s and he is well known there. Since this is his routine, it is to no surprise that this was exactly what he did on the 20th of October, the only difference is that something happened that day which made his routine day into an extraordinary day. It was the day that he purchased a winning ticket that made him a millionaire.

He purchased his winning ticket on October 20 and stopped for a print-out of the drawing results on October 21. He checked his ticket in the driveway when he got home. “When I realized I matched all six numbers, I just stared in disbelief,” he said of the moment he learned he was the winner of one million dollars. The father of three and grandfather of five simply loves games and his good luck didn´t end there, and it seems he has no plans of changing his routine, specially if the routine has brought him so much luck and cash. The next day he also won won $500 by playing a Cashword scratch-off ticket. If the routine works, why change it, right?

Ball is also a good-humored guy, a Stewart’s regular said he had a little fun with his local shop after he knew he had won. Explained Ball, “I went back to the store and said to the clerk, ‘I heard you had a winner,’ but I didn’t tell them it was me!”

Ball claimed his $1,000,000 Sweet Million prize at the Schenectady Customer Service Center on October 24. He is the 19th New Yorker to win a Sweet Million jackpot.

The $1,000,000 prize on the Sweet Million game is paid as a lump sum. Ball will receive a one-time, net payment totaling $660,300. Thanks to this windfall he will be able to break away from other not so interesting routines, “We have rented our entire lives. I’m going to buy a home.” Ball also plans to buy an SUV for his wife, Suzanne.
