OHIO LOTTO HAS FINALLY BEEN WON!
October 27, 2011
A very lucky unidentified man from Kentucky won $50.4 million playing the Classic Lotto at a Mount Adams bar. It is one of the biggest lottery winnings for the Cincinnati region and a record for the Classic Lotto game and it had no winner since May 2010. That time, the lucky winner took home $9.5 million. Jackpots have been piling up in the game since then. The game is only played in Ohio. National lottery
The winner bought his ticket at Monk’s Cove, 1104 St. Gregory St., a bar that advertises $1 Jell-O shots, Wii games, Guitar Hero and Karaoke on its website.
The bar owner Tom Nurre, said few people at his establishment play the Classic Lotto, preferring the larger jackpots of Mega Millions and Powerball. In comparison to Classic Lotto Mega Millions’ next jackpot is $57 million and Powerball’s is over $200 million. It is quite obvious most people preferred the multi-state jackpots instead of the local one. The bar was given $1,000 agent sales bonus for selling the top prize winning ticket. Lottery numbers
“This is a lot of fun,” he said. “It was even more fun when the Lottery told me my share was $100,000 and then they called back and said no, it was $1,000. But it’s $1,000 more than when I woke up today.
Before this win, the biggest win at his bar had been $600 on Keno, Nurre said. He suspects he knows who might be the winner, but “I won’t know until somebody shows up driving a Rolls Royce,” he said.
The odds of winning Classic Lotto are 1:13,983,816. In comparison to the other two multi-state jackpots, the odd to win the jackpot at Mega Millions is 1:175,711,536 and for Powerball the odd to win the jackpot is 1:195,249,054. Classic Lotto drawings in Ohio are held Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The winning numbers were 7-11-13-14-23-42.
Although the jackpot is $50.4 million, it’s an annuity that pays out $1.68 million a year over 30 years. The winner can also choose one-time cash payment of $25.2 million — minus 25 percent in federal taxes and 6 percent in state taxes for a total of about $17.3 million. It hasn’t been reported which is the choice of this lucky winner.
According to the lottery’s representatives, it has been reported that the winner plans to come forward, however he will use a blind trust to protect his identity, a common strategy among lottery winners of $1 million or more.
